Re: Dash lights and turn signals
Hey all, Wanted to update this. School picked up and I haven't really had a chance to be active here. Which is ironic considering I have to drive 80 miles a day, but I digress. So the issue hasn't gone away, but it is happening much less frequently. At this point I cycle between the light settings I...

Re: Dash lights and turn signals
Does the issue only happen when the lights are switched on? I was getting all sorts of issues with random lights, signal lights on all the time. It turned out I had fried the light switch when I accidentally shorted the battery terminals. Your car is a 96 GLT = NA motor. 97 GLT = LPT motor. Neil. I...

Dash lights and turn signals
Hey folks, Haven't been here in a hot minute, which is both a blessing and a curse (in some ways). But as a refresher: I have a '96 850 GLT sedan. At least that's what the VIN says it is, but I definitely have an NA engine. That's another question though... I'll cut straight to the chase: My d...

Re: 850 Rear Shocks Question
I've got one more question about this: Do I NEED the torque wrenches to do this job successfully? Will I regret it if I don't use them? I'm a college student and need to make sure I need something before I buy it. I do plan on doing front struts when I am able, so if they will help on that I think I...

850 Rear Shocks Question
So I just got a set of rear shocks for my '96 850. I've seen conflicting info in guides: Do I have to jack the car up to change them? Or can I do it without jacking the car? I think one guide says to jack it up, and the other says there is no need, so is it a personal preference thing, or is one way...

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)
1998 Volvo V70XC in Boulder, CO. Looks very similar to my 850 mechanically (I really want to test drive this thing...). https://boulder.craigslist.org/cto/d/boulder-1998-volvo-v70xc/7167097653.html If I weren't a student with an 850 that runs pretty well, I'd probably buy this right now and fix it ...

Re: SIPS in action
Is it weird that this makes me want a '99 V70 even more now?
I drive a '96 850 that has been pretty awesome, but I freakin love wagons.

Re: Distributor Cap
I feel it is worth mentioning: when I started the car, there was a lot of exhaust smell coming from the engine bay.
Pretty sure that doesn't happen when I fire my 850 up.
But it's very strong at the front, and not nearly as strong at the rear. Could this point to the problem?

Re: Distributor Cap
Okay, I made a marvelous meal for the mosquito's tonight, but the car failed (or passed?) the coil test. I removed the coil from cylinder 1 and the idle immiedietly became rough. Not a coil problem. I drove the car around my apartment complex (no plates, so I can't do much else as of yet) which was ...
