Re: Longevity of HEPU pump?

Marginally more work for a lot more piece of mind. And it's not a bad job at all. The hardest part for me was removing the stuck on pieces of old gasket from a pump that was at minimum 12 years old, possibly original, on my '98 with 107k on it. And that wasn't even too bad.

Definitely check the bushings. If you routinely carry a load in the car, might not be a bad idea to have them recheck the alignment with weights in the back to simulate routine driving conditions.

Thanks for all the comments. I have decided to go with the SACHS shocks when I do them. Was able to price all I needed cheap through my local guy. But will have to hold off on shocks because the car is long overdue for a t-belt. Belt looks ok but the tensioner is seeping.

Re: New addition to the fleet!

I've heard that many shops will assemble struts for you if you just chuck some money at 'em. That's probs pretty cheap, so it seems worth doing the struts with legit parts, if you're planning to keep the car more than a year or two. This, the quick struts are not really the way to go. Get the good ...

I agree you are overthinking this  You are doing the right and most important thing, which is to change the oil at 3k. This is a good interval if you are using dino oil. But please make sure you use OEM quality oil filters. I think Mann filters are what most people use, I know I do. Do some re...

Another oil thread....bear with me

I am probably over-thinking this but I wanted to put this quandary out to you all for collective opinion. The first thing I'm going to do on my '98 S70 NA is an oil change and I'm debating what oil to use. My '98 V70 GLT has recently had its second oil change (I changed it when I bought the car in S...

Thanks guys! It seems I have a handful of options for shocks as far as brands: Sachs (oe), Gabriel, KYB, Sen-Sen, Monroe and Bilstein. Bilstein are out because of the price and the Sen-Sen are appealing because of their price ($125 for all four). Let's also assume the Sachs are a safe bet. Anyone el...

Heater core is most likely culprit. It's a pretty easy job (just did it on my own V70) and you'll be back in business. There are a few how-to videos for the heater core and definitely worth a watch. The IPD video is good but shows clamping off the heater hoses in the engine compartment which looks e...

All these small leaks would be very unusual for these engines, things may not be as bad as you think. Pull the cap check for oil underneath....

It isn't out of the realm of possibility that you got a bad/out-of-round tire or rim. Try swapping the front wheels and tires to the back and go for a ride. If the vibration moves or changes, your problem is in the wheels/tires. If it's the same, there's a component issue. If it is a tire/wheel issu...
