Re: 2008 V70 NO AM Radio reception
For what it is worth, I had the radio in my 2008 XC70 repaired by Hi-Tech Electronics of Van Nuys, CA. I looked at various UTube sites for removal instructions, quite tricky but doable. The radio unit was back within a week and now functions beautifully. The local dealer had quoted me $1500 to do th...

Re: Clanking noise when turning a corner
Well - I removed the prop shaft and as kahl predicted, it is the retainer bearing midway between the transmission and the rear differential. The clanking has disappeared. If I had only known this before, it would have saved me a lot of time and money. I will have the shaft rebuilt by the Colorado ou...

Re: Clanking noise when turning a corner
Thanks kahl - I looked up previous posts on this subject and found that the prop shaft bearing may be the culprit. Indeed, upon examination the one in my car is shredded so that may be the problem. I will remove the shaft and see if that solves the noise. If so, I understand that there is a company ...

Clanking noise when turning a corner
On my 2000 XC70 clanking noises started appearing when turning a corner. Went to the dealer where the noise was diagnosed as control arm, possible strut and cv shaft failure. I replaced all of those but to my chagrin, the noise is still there. It appears to be originating from a spot close to the sh...

Re: ABS problems
After going through hours of part replacements and failure, I finally got the problem fixed. As was suggested earlier, the tone ring was the culprit. Apparently I damaged just one tooth when I installed the new axle. I pried off the damaged one and got a new ring at the Volvo dealer just to make sur...

Re: ABS problems
I have not checked the ABS motor shaft. Should I pull the motor off? I returned the previously installed module to Matty which should be delivered per USPS on Saturday 10/8. Matty will pull the codes and I'll wait for his guidance. All wiring to the module and the pump appears to be in excellent con...

Re: ABS problems
I replaced the sensor on the front right side and the ABS module. When I first started to drive the car all was OK but after a few stops the same problem started again. It seems intermittent though. What other part(s) need replacement? Could this be the ABS pump? Air in the system? Please help, I am...

Re: ABS problems
That is good advice. I will try all of those angles and report on my progress or lack thereof. Thanks a lot. Dirk

Re: ABS problems
I changed the sensor and wire harness but the brakes still make the same noise and the car shudders when braking. I also notice a slight growling sound/vibration when I just touch the brake pedal. The ABS light does not come on. Is this still a module problem? I pulled the 50 amp fuse for the ABS an...

Re: Stupid question - how do I know if I have 4 or 5 spd auto?
I called the dealer when I was not sure what transmission fluid to flush with. By checking the VIN, they assured me that it is a 4 speed and it uses Dextron.
