Re: 850 Bad Knock
Dead sure the timing marks are right. Is it very hard to change the lifters?

Re: 850 Bad Knock
Fixing rod knock? Not a mechanic, also only paid $500 for the car. Is it worth it? Willing to put in the work but don't want to put a ton of money into a car that won't run.

Re: 850 Bad Knock
I have a video on my phone but it didn't let me post it. How do I go about uploading it? The noise is constant, cold, warm, idle and full gas.

850 Bad Knock
So we are still trying to diagnose this loud knock/noise on our 1995 850 non-turbo. So far, checked timing, replaced serpentine belt, spark plugs, fuel filter, coolant temp sensor, distributor cap, It does now start right up, and drive with decent power, it just sounds awful. Does anyone know what c...

Misfire/knock
I posted here about a week ago, and we did get the car running. It still has a loud knock and/or a misfire. Also, there was quite a bit of oil under the spark plug cover, and there is some oil on the plugs when pulled. Coil, and wires are fine, MAF when pulled changes the idle a little but not much....

Re: 850 Wagon wont start - possible 'limp mode'
Just realized that the serpentine belt was really frayed. Also looks as if the timing belt might have "skipped" because we found pieces of the serp belt in the timing belt housing. Would huge misfiring be caused by bad timing?

Re: 850 Wagon wont start - possible 'limp mode'
It's coming from the engine compartment and most likely the engine. It runs real rough, and has very little power. All this started at a stop sign, car ran smooth and then I stopped at a stop sign and all of a sudden this loud knock noise started and it barely made it home. It was fine and then boom...

Re: 850 Wagon wont start - possible 'limp mode'
It is not a turbo. And we did check the timing belt, it's is in very good shape, it obviously had been replaced at some point.

Re: 850 Wagon wont start - possible 'limp mode'
Oil level is good, spark plugs are new. Would the fuel filter and/or the cap and rotor cause a loud knock and lack of power? Also, I read a forum on this site about lifters causing a knock, is that possible?
