I have a 2001 S80 with 140k.
I purchased it used and do not know if these have been replaced.
This my first Volvo and I do not have a feel for a proper ride.
What is a good indicator for replacement?
Thanks

Re: interior rear view mirror
Thanks for responding. I think I found a company that will do the repair for 99.00 (see below). 2 questions: Will the electronics in the vehicle function properly without the mirror connected? Does the UEM consist of the complete circuit board is just one component on the board? Thanks again -------...

At one time (many decades ago) I heard a theory that a high milage transmission could start to slip if the old fluid with metal/grit was replaced. Some people felt that the debris was what created necessary grip between clutches. Your mechanic may be a believer.

interior rear view mirror
I have the dreaded lava lamp syndrome. I have seen instructions for swapping a mirror from used vehicle, by separating the glass from the circuit board. But, I am sure I will screw it up. I don't see how I can remove the glass from the frame without gravely distorting the plastic. I have a mirror un...

2001 S80 2.9 strut/shock recommendations
Great car- nothing malfunctions. 140K miles. After driving a 3000GT for 25 years, the best way I can describe the handling of this S80 is that of a 58 Buick. I realize that these cars are vastly different when it come to handling, but I would like to make sure I have it working at its best. I have n...

2001 S80 2.9 trunk lights- trouble shooting
I have had this car for a year and decided to replace burned out bulbs in trunk today. Tried original type bulbs and LED replacements. Neither worked. I checked #1 fuse in trunk fuse box and it is good. I am guessing there is a switch that senses when the trunk is open and that may be the problem. I...

Re: Sounds good to me...
Thanks for the prompt response and valuable detail. This is my first Volvo. I am an old dude and I am only comfortably working on engines with carbs and mechanical distributors. I purchased this 2001 S80 2.9 approximately 9 months ago with 140K and have logged somewhere around 4500 miles. I will att...

Sounds good to me...
It has been suggested that the following issues may be caused by bad connections between ground straps and body/engine. Can someone guide me in trouble shooting this? Diagram of ground strap locations would help. 1. When starting the engine. If I turn the ignition key at normal (?) speed, the engine...
