I replaced them all with the same size silicone hose. Doesn't seem to have made a difference from the original different sizes. 6mm ID or something though best just measure.

How old are your tires? How many studs left? This is my question as well. Personally I find it very noticeable when the tyres loose grip and the cars tech tries to help out. So it's quite easy to tell the two apart. This goes both for braking and accelerating. Regarding ABS it's not supposed to opt...

The insulators can be substituted for any piece of rubber or plastic tube that's about the right diameter cut lengthwise plus a few zip ties. If you're in a pinch.

There's a regular washer fluid hose inside the trunk lid. It connects to the inside of the wiper motor assembly. Then wiper arm axle is hollow with a brass tube inside which connects to the nozzle.

If air isn't coming through it's the air flow that's clogged and flushing the coolant won't do much.

Now if air was coming through but there was little heat the coolant flush would be a reasonable thing to do.

HD/reinforced springs are only really needed if you often drive the car heavily loaded and/or with a bike rack or trailer. For me it's a godsend since the car even with 100 kg on the tow hitch still behaves perfectly normal. Before it'd feel very strange. Especially with luggage inside as well.

When the self leveling sensor doesn't give a correct signal the car will set the headlights in the lowest possible setting. So I'm betting that's your issue.

There's only one sensor and it's a small box connected to the rear suspension link arm underneath the car. It's quite easy to spot iirc.

Remote start in the cold is a really bad idea since idling doesn't warm the engine quickly and thus causes more wear. A pan or water heater is a much better option if you don't have the original fuel operated heater. Plus an electric heater lets you plug in a charger as well which is good.

Re: Excess Gas consumption

You guys are running some seriously low pressures. 2,8 bars/41 psi is my regular pressure. I bump it another .1 bars for long highway trips. 205/55-16 or 195/60-16. Any lower and the car feels way too squishy for my taste. So really I'm running Volvo's recommended highway+high load pressure all the ...

Regardless of brands used you want at least two different products. A thin oil to penetrate well, reach every corner inside the car and stop rust that had already started and then a thicker product to protect from mechanical wear.

Re: ICE vs. EV Poll

Its the energy density problem. Gasoline is 100x more energy dense than electricity in both volume and mass, so that barrier will be hard to overcome. Even 15 minute charge times will be too long, and those won't be feasible for decades. Its going to stay in the realm of short urban commutes only -...

The AWD cars use struts in the rear while fwd cars use separately mounted spring and shock. I think that's why you're not seeing what you expect.

In my experience the best tire on a fwd should be in front. They need to plow through any water, they need to brake, they need to steer, they need to steer while braking. HID bulbs go pink when they're at their end of life. It's perfectly normal and just tells you it's time to change it. Or that it was time quite a while ago really since they weaken as well.

Go with a brand bulb such as Osram and you'll be fine.

Re: Voltage regulator causing dim headlights and slow windows

Start at the battery and measure wherever you can reach. Check the voltage level and if it's consistent or not. Also both while running and when not. The very first measurement you'll want to do is on the battery when it's been charged then rested a couple of hours, overnight or so.

Yes, in both auto and manual configuration. To use the low rpm torque of the turbo better. The NA would require a lot more shifting with the same gearing. It is most apparent in highway driving when you go up a long hill. Even with the gearing it has, the non-turbo will often downshift from "top ge...

Those early S/V70 Awds are rare over here as well. Even the XC was never very common. And since the awd is both quite useless and prone to break you barely ever see them anymore while the regular versions are still around in decent numbers.

Those are calendar years. They do not correspond to model years 1:1. The P3 was launched the summer 2007 as MY2008. And the P80 was still the 855 for MY96.

As another example my MY2004 was registered April 2003.

There used to be a police chassis kit to improve handling. Especially with the heavy load all police cars carry as standard. It mostly contained thicker sway bars front and rear so they must be quite important for handling.

It's possible to just solder a new component on there. I've seen it done but I don't know the details.

The CCM isn't replaceable just like that. It has to be coded to the car.

Also don't forget to disconnect the battery or you'll get am airbag error code if you disconnect the CCM.

I would say it's both really easy and relatively risk free to remove the panel. One bolt inside the inside handle. The clips around the outside edges. Just gotta be careful and not force anything.

Same way you'd turn the engine when replacing it. Wheel off and socket through the wheel well onto the crank pulled. Or at least that's what I can think of that'll give you enough power.

My belt looked almost brand new when I replaced it at the milage cutoff. YMMV I guess.

I agree with the above that it's a risky thing to postpone. And it's also not at all bad to DIY. I've done it once and I probably spent about three or four hours, going slow to make sure I got it right.

Mould is alive. Bleach kills it. Then you wash out residual smell and having killed the mould it doesn't come back.

More or less at least.

I've successfully gotten rid of the smell from a smoker's car using just upholstery shampoo and elbow grease. Doing the roof made a huge difference.

Replacing the drain plug in itself doesn't really make a difference on the work load when you still have to get it up on ramps and take the big plastic cover off.

It would however save me having to stick my hand in the tray full of hot oil to retrieve the plug that I almost always manage to drop :-)
