Re: Low oil and engine noise

UPDATE: It appears the noise heard in the video was related to my alternator pulley (as abscate noted as a possibility) that needed replacing. With the alternator not working properly, the battery wouldn't charge, and it throws the whole system out of wack. No transmission issues, luckily, and a rel...

Re: Low oil and engine noise

Thank you all for replying. One thing that is definitely an issue, is the alternator is not charging the battery. So, will probably need the alternator replaced. I wonder if that could be preventing the transmission from doing what it needs to do. I am getting this issue looked at by a shop. Will po...

Re: Low oil and engine noise

It looks like I may need a professional to look at the transmission oil. I don't appear to have a dipstick to check transmission fluids, so not sure I have a way to check whether it's low or not. Is there a way to do this that isn't terribly difficult?

Re: Low oil and engine noise

UPDATE: This morning, I started the car, did not hear the noise anymore. However, we backed it out of the garage, and then put it into drive to go forward and it wouldn't move.

Re: Low oil and engine noise

Thank you for your response, We've only had it for couple of years. Based on what I read online, it appears to have a timing chain. It's a 3.2 engine and we run high mileage Mobil 1 oil.

Low oil and engine noise

My wife 's '07 XC is making some funny engine noises. This morning it made some funny noises, first time she heard it. So, I checked her oil, and it was near completely out. It doesn't make this noise consistently from what I could tell, seems mainly at start-up, then she heard it again at a stoplig...

Passenger airbag off warning

Have the airbag warning on my 07 xc90. did some searching already on this forum, and located all sorts of electrical plugs underneath the passenger seat. I did find one, that was disconnected, so I went ahead and reattached it. Now, I'd like to find out if there's a way to clear the code without a s...

Re: Hard starting & hesitating to shift

Thank you. The wiring for connector that plugs into the sensor looked a little sketchy. So, I redid that along with replacing the sensor ($20) eBay. All is well now, no more codes, and drives perfectly. Phew!

Re: Hard starting & hesitating to shift

Update. I’m going to go ahead and replace the crankshaft position sensor since it’s a cheap part. Does anyone know if this is something that the dealer needs to reprogram or reset? Or is it just a thing that the car will relearn on it’s own?

Hard starting & hesitating to shift

I just replaced my alternator on my 2007 XC90 3.2 The alternator seems to be working fine, however, the car now hesitates to start And hesitates to shift, as well. Did not have this issue before replacing the alternator, so not sure what I might have done, but concerned about some of the electrical ...
