Re: 1998 T5 surging at idle, code 1505 but replacement IAC encounters same problem
Typed up a long explanation, attached photos, went to preview, and somehow lost the whole post. Pointing to vacuum leaks is not the panacea for every ailment with these cars. Here's the solution to my problem, courtesy of Dave in the U.K. who PM'd me: it was a wiring short inside the engine wiring l...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad
It appears that Bosch manufactured MAF sensors have become unavailable for my 1998s. Original Volvo OEM still available if you want to shell out $360 (at a reasonable website -- another site wants $812.00!!!). What are folks' opinions on the next best replacement MAF in 2026?

1998 T5 surging at idle, code 1505 but replacement IAC encounters same problem
I've searched the other posts and haven't found an easy solution yet. One older post was close in description of symptoms but never offered a solution. 1998 T5 V70 manual with a bunch of aftermarket high performance upgrades from prior owner. Haven't been under the hood for any work since last summe...

Re: 1998 V70 GLT surging idle when warm
I realize this is a REALLY old and short thread, but have the exact same thing happening to my 1998 V70 T5 right now. I'm going to start a new thread in the search for help with a few more details, but will still post to this one too.Car has surging idle. Eventually and finally threw code 1505. I sw...

Re: Coolant Pipe Bolt Hole Stripped! 850
When you're dealing with a dead-end hole, and presuming you don't have a lot of extra depth to play with, you should have two taps to do the job properly, if not three. The taper tap is the starting tap to get the threads started, and can be used to cut thread for as deep as the tap will go. There i...

Re: Replacement CV boots for crenulated retainer?
Here's another tidbit of information. IPD strongly suggested to me that I don't bother finding replacement boots to fit my mystery axle in my 98 V70 T5 manual. They said the aftermarket replacements from Autozone are affordable and seem to hold up. The manual replacement axle showed as unavailable b...

Seat interchangeability for a 1997 S90?
I've searched all posts in this forum with "seats" in the subject line and found a few queries, but cannot find a clear answer. I just purchased a 1997 S90 from the original owner with 130k miles on it. Really don't like the soft seats, much prefer the seats in our two 1998 70s. I have ple...

Re: Replacement CV boots for crenulated retainer?
Very happy I found this posting, recognize it's 3 months old.....I have a 1998 V70 T5 manual. Outer passenger CV boot failed so I've removed & cleaned the axle entirely and want to replace both boots. I have this same crenulated axle design and none of the Volvo boots fit. I ordered from FCP and...
