Re: The Resurrection/Insurrection of GrunHilde - 1998 V70 NA M56 421 Green

I think I'm paying $150 per hour at my dealership. I haven't seen $120 a hour in at least 20 years if not more. June Some insight in the Dutch prices. My local Volvo dealer asks 65 euros per hour, that's somewhere around 70 dollars I guess. I also go to a local DIY-garage where I can rent tools, a ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

So after saving up some funds, I took my S70 to the Volvo dealer for a new axle. Turned out the former one was... too long?! That explained some of the noises. I've heard you guys say alot about aftermarket axles, how they are rubbish and brake down, but my Volvo dealer placed an aftermarket product...

Re: Volvo S70 in search for a new axle

We wrote up a axle part number thread early this year which might help track down the part number. It sounds like you have the 1999 style m10 bolt holding it on , not the large 36mm size socket nut? That is correct Abscate! I have the M10 bolt, which I found out, snaps easily if you forget it only ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Awhile ago I wrote down the mileage on my S70 when I checked the oil level and filled it up to max. Yesterday, it was just above the MIN level on the dipstick and I found out the engine uses 1 liter (I think 1 qt is 0.95 liters) of oil every 10.000 kilometers (somewhere around 6200 miles). There still hope for that transmission. P0748 does not translate to a 1998 S70. I think you OBD scanner has poor translations. Not uncommon for generic scanners. Well, that can be a lot of things. I'm thinking of a few possible culprits, but be warned, English isn't my native language. 1. 1998 S70 N/A noises in suspension

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble finding the source of some noises in the front suspension of my S70. I made a dashcam video where - if you turn up the volume high - you can hear the clunking noises when I make a right hand corner. I've replaced the right outer tie rod because it had too much play....

The lowest octane sold in the Netherlands is 95, the highest you can get is 102 but the price of that gas is just wonkers. I wonder how my S70 runs on 87 in the US... a few days back I visited Poland and the cheap gas there made my Volvo run less economic. Not bad in any way, just less mpg.

Re: 1998 S70 10 valve M56 tuneup, stutter at mid rev

Hey guys! Small update. I've ordered new OEM sparkplugs and a new fuelfilter to begin with, since they are overdue. I've observed some details concerning the hiccups. The engine hiccups after long drives, only on a warm engine. The hiccups only occur between 1000 and 1500 rpm. Since there are no war...

Is there an easy way to check the fuel pump relay before buying a new one?

Thanks for the advice! I will look into buying new plugs, wires, a rotor and cap since I can't find in the maintenance history when they were last replaced. Should I buy OEM parts in this particular question or is aftermarket also okay? (except the fuel pump repay, I heard ya about that one)

Ocelot V70 stutter and tuneup thread dec 2018

It's a manual transmission. Funny thing is, this started today. Yesterday and the days before, there were no hiccups at all.

Sidenote: a cold engine doesn't hiccup, so my theory is it only hiccups with a warm engine.

1998 S70 10 valve M56 tuneup, stutter at mid rev

Hey guys, It's not something I did tot my S70, but something I noticed driving today. The engine idles just fine, without anything noticeable. But when I accelerate from 1st to 2nd gear or from 2nd to 3rd, it hiccups a bit, you can feel the engine stall a bit. I know it's a lot to ask giving so litt...

You are all so busy doing cool things, making me feel so inferior... so... I put new wiper blades on my 98 V70 today. What brand of wiperblades do you guys prefer? I'm not a big fan of Valeo blades. They're rather expensive and they wore out a lot faster than the Bosch wipers. If I go further back ...

Today I changed the airfilter and the cabinfilter. And boy, was it time for a change. It were the only two things I really didn't pay attention to when I bought the S70 a few months back and I'm not sure why (I changed the oil and filter two days after purchase). But both filters were black as coal....

Re: What filters to use?

I've had the Bosch yellow series (Made IN USA I may add) cartridge filters actually break apart and get holes well within the service interval. I documented this in the maintenance log here on MVS for my 2002 XC70. I like K& N for the 1992-1998 engines because they are bigger (longer by about 15mm)...

The new nano sealants weren't around just a few years ago. They're absolutely amazing compared to traditional waxes at least when it comes to the work-results ratio.
