1996 Volvo 850 non turbo

Hello everyone, it’s kind of been a while since I posted anything. I was recently repairing a rusty section of my catalytic converter along with a new o2 sensor after the cat. I went to go start the vehicle and it will not start it cranks over but not even the slightest bit of running. Here is what ...

1996 850

Hello everyone, it’s been a little while. Anyway I am having some issues with my wipers stopping halfway when I only use the delay feature and shut off the wipers. In the past I have put a whole new wiper assembly and arms with motor from a low mileage vehicle. It’s my father’s car, and I think some...

Re: Can’t get rotors on after replacing parking brake shoes

Ok, I figured it out I had to disassemble the shoes on one side and pull really hard on the cable so that both sides were equal in cable slack. The cables on these cars rust pretty easily??

Re: Can’t get rotors on after replacing parking brake shoes

Oh my god!! These cars at times can be so complicated. I’m sick of The volvo 960. This car is so different from the 850 and any model without the stupid fiberglass rear leaf spring . I wonder if I disassemble just the side where the rotor won’t go on. Then pull out the cable from the suspension knuc...

Re: Can’t get rotors on after replacing parking brake shoes

Hello everyone I’m about ready to go nuts!! I am able to get one rotor on and fits very easily on the passenger side. So it’s definitely not an incorrect parts issue. It seems that the cable pivot point on the drivers side is stuck in. I tried adjusting the nut under the ashtray every direction. I r...

Well I got my new rotors. I know for sure these are the same reybestos brand that I got 3 years ago. These seem to have a ridge as well out of the box???

Re: Can’t get rotors on after replacing parking brake shoes

Hello everyone, I went back and got the rotors off and disconnected the parking brake cable from the passenger side. It does not seem to look or feel stuck, other than the crimp separating from the outer black jacket of the cable it still should work I guess?? I ordered a replacement reybestos one f...

Re: Can’t get rotors on after replacing parking brake shoes

Thanks for the response, I have not tried adjusting at the handle. I only tried adjusting at the rear of the center console under the ashtray. I will get some pictures of inside the rotors.

Can’t get rotors on after replacing parking brake shoes

I’m about ready to pull my hair out. I remember several years ago I have had problems before with this task. Anyway, before I initially took the rotors off I went in the rear ashtray part of the center console and rotated the large black plastic adjuster nut as far as it would go. I still had to ham...
