The link to the .ru site came up with a Google search for "Aisin AW 50-42le repair" and it was on the first page. They don't exactly have gigabit speed off of the server but it was only a few minutes to download it.

Thanks Lee you are probably right! I'll use a hotel computer to download I don't trust those foreign ip's!!

Last time I looked at the Hastings cattalogue they had 2.4 rings but that was over 2 years ago.
I'll check there thank you. I did find one set but they were close to $500, seemed like a large amount for just rings.

What plate in the pump is cracked?

This is the plate inside the pump assembly that was cracked. Its the last one of the smaller clutch package. As far as I can see this plate and also all of the plates in the clutch that burned up is the only hard parts I will need.

That is the C2 pressure plate. That clutch is carried by the pump but is not the pump.
Make sure the piston behind it is OK and the housing isn't damaged in some way to make the piston hang.
Usually there is a cause for a part like that to crack.

The banging that sluggish solenoids creates can be a cause of shock damage in these transmissions.

However be very thorough in the way you rebuild both the valve body and the other areas. The largest gasket on the valve body plate is usually baked on and requires the use of a dishwasher or immersion in boiling water to remove.

Ctp Powertrain sell a Transtar kit packaged with all gaskets and a nice cork VB gasket.

Oh ok thanks for the tip. I will look closely at all the parts I will take apart. This is my first auto transmission job I've done so I really appreciate all the help I can get :)

Yes I had the banging when the tranny was hot for quite a while. Maybe it was wat caused the damage to the steel plate I have no idea. Gonna do the solenoids at the same time.
