98 XC-Disappointing 0-60 times: what do I do?

Post by CIK7 »

Everywhere on the internet, I see 0-60 for a 98 V70 XC as 7.7sec. I've ready a real-experience forum where some people had their stock XC go 0-60 in 7.4sec, others 7.8 sec. But in my case, it's a reason to cry because both of my 0-60 runs were 9sec and 9.3sec. That's worse than the 850 Turbo which also goes to 7.8 ish seconds. What can I do to bring my engine up to par?

Remanufactured, flow matched, 4 port Bosch fuel injectors and new Bosch O2 sensors. A lot of people overlook fuel injectors and O2 sensors because both can age and reduce performance without tripping any trouble codes.

Thank you. What's your opinion on removing cat? Not illegal in my state. Someone said it would not improve performance, someone else said it might a tiny bit it may be similar to breathing through a bottle filled with cotton.

It is illegal in your state by federal law.

By federal law it is illegal to remove a Catalytic converter. There are specific prohibitions against removing one and replacing it with a "test pipe". Sections 203(a)(3)(A) and (B) of the Clean Air Act of 1990.

On top of that, the rest of us would end up breathing your excessive emissions, so don't do it.

Oklahoma has been doing like Kansas. Revoking state statutes and letting federal statutes govern. Produces less legislative maintenance for the state.

Your XC is giving away a lot of pounds to the 850 and drivetrain friction too.

The faster you try to hurry, the quicker you get to end of life,..just sayin...

What do you mean by the first part? I thought AWD helps 0-60 times since it gives more traction.

Well 7.8 seems a little slow for a turbo 850. A quick search seems to bare that out.
As to AWD helping with 0 - 60 times, I think you loose a bit of HP going through the additional mechanics before the power gets to the wheels. I can certainly tell you that applies to 4x4's so I would think it would here as well.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

If you have a spare planet in your trunk, give it to me first and then continue to pollute the one you're on on purpose. If not, don't do it!!!

Love it dude! 👍 My aim is for really fun. Right now though I believe factory power is 190hp, probably less than that. It's still fun. My friend was in the backseat when I floored it. It really feels fast. It places V6 cars in my rear view mirror.
