Unlock Truck From Back Seat? Topic is solved

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Unlock Truck From Back Seat?

Post by MoVolvos »

-
The key no longer works on the trunk lock. The spring for the flap door to the lock fell off and is blocking the key from entering.

The alarm module under the passenger wheel well needs a battery so the remote does not work at this time.

Any advise on getting into the trunk from the backseat so I can pull the cord? Thanks.
Blessings,

On the S80 the lock actuator is a microswitch and the lock should unlock when using the key in the door. You're saying it doesn't? The key hole in the back is mostly for when there's no power so the switch doesn't work.

When the battery died in the Alarm Module in the passenger fender well I lost the use of the trunk remote and button at the trunk. The key hole is also broken as the small flap door spring broke so the face just spins and can't get the key in.

Don't have time to remove the Alarm Module Battery so would like get into the trunk from the back seat and tie a twine to the Yellow Emergency Pull Clip and open from the back seat for now. Good thing I didn't go grocery shopping or it would be gross siree by now.

Then I'd say your best bet is to send a child through the ski hole in the rear seat to fold the seat down from inside the trunk. Unless you've got very long arms and can reach yourself.

How do you get that open from the back seat? The armrest comes down but the plastic does not move.

I used to be able to pry mine open by hand on my 01. It's a small tab up top then it folds down on top of the arm rest.

Had a moment so I managed to pull it down today. I think a credit card inserted at the top of the tab would do it easily. Will update after I open it from the ski hole. Thank you.

Used a long thin wooden rod with an eye hook screwed into the tip to pulled the yellowish plastic tab and opened the trunk. Next removed the clips of the trunk lid interior cover and then the 2 screws for the trunk lock.

As I suspected the spring for the flip cover where you insert the key popped off. Son saw it come off earlier and kept it. The flip cover had dropped into the key hole and jammed into the lock. Remove it and now it works. Didn't bother trying to put the spring or the flip cover back just in case it jams again. Will see if debris gets in with the next big rain.

Thanks Rattnalle!
