S80 Sunroof Won't Close
Re: S 80 Sunroof Won't Close
Not sure if you got this figured out but using the panic button doesn't set of the siren for your alarm. It only sets off the horn. What you have to do is roll down your driver window, then close door set alarm with your key fob. Then reach through window and open the door. This will set off the actual alarm, which has a different pitch. If you don't hear anything but your lights are flashing then it' your alarm module. This is what happened with my 02' V70. Flashing lights+no siren=No sunroof! I read on here the module is under the RF fender. You have to remove the plastic guard inside wheel well to access it. Not sure if it can be repaired or if you have to reaplce the unit. Haven't tried it yet, but what it costs at the dealer I can't afford right now. It may have to wait. I hope this helped.
This is weird.
Today I replaced the button to operate the sunroof (which already didn't work when I bought the car; according to the person I bought the car from - a Volvo mechanic - the switch had to be replaced). As I already thought in advance, replacing the switch didn't result in a functional sunroof.
So I ended up at mvs again to look for information. I saw the picture above with the ground cable connected to one of the 10mm bolts. I had to recheck in my car to be sure, but this ground cable is not present. My car has an auto-dimming mirror, not sure what that has to do with it though (it actually works, as far as I can tell). So....does that ground cable have to be present in all cars?

Where do i need to crank the sunroof motor? My sunroof closes almost 90% and opens and closes to that position.

I am too having problems with my sunroof. I don't have any alarm errors, and I also have heard my weird wee-woo alarm go off recently so I know it's working. My sunroof is completely open and I can close it probably 1/3rd of the ways. What's weird is that it seems to stop there as if it's in the closed position because if I press the switch to the vent position, it will go forward a bit more. And on the normal sunroofs, when it's in the vent position and you close it, it adjusts to close right....well mine does that too, but instead of up and down, it goes forward a bit. It's so hard to explain...I feel like it lost it's place and thinks it's closed half ways. I have also reset the UEM doing many of the ways, including the key in the door and the key in pos 2, holding the windows up for 8 seconds, removing the key, and unlocking/locking twice. I even get the immobiliser message after it resets and the sunroof still won't work right. I have also checked the UEM, but I can't remember if it has the ground. I'll open it up and check again. I am seriously ready to rip the glass out and duct tape it in place >:I

Locking and unlocking the remote 3 times worked for me. I didn't disconnect and reconnect my battery. Also my dome light switches near the sunroof switch started working again too. Thank you very much!
