Volvos are just like any other collection. You just feel good having them around. They take up more space than comic books and cost more than vinyl records, but they can, maybe some day, provide more enjoyment than either of these collectables.

I wish I had a photo to post for you. Pre-digital cameras - before I started doing most of my own work, we had a great Volvo mechanic named Oddvar Oggland in Seattle. He was great. Among his many project cars was a very nice, all black 544. All restored, side chrome trims removed, wide Volvo steelies, sat a bit low, and of course he built himself a hotrod motor for it.

I saw a 221 wagon for sale recently, but can't remember where. Might have been on Craigslist Vancouver.
I have owned a 122S (65) a 123GT (68) and a 221 wagon (66). Always wanted another wagon for the practicality. Hard to find so I wish you luck.
Always wanted a 64/5 PV544 Sport but never had one available to buy when I could. Just like the $5000 123GT locally for sale last week. Can't buy anything until the garage is built first.
Nearly bought a 59 PV445 wagon a couple of years ago as a project with a 2liter motor fitted. Apparently one of only 13 sold in Canada! Owner decided to repair it himself and got it back on the road. Would have been a nice car to renovate.
I wish you both luck on your quests. I think I still have a couple of Haynes manuals or similar for the 120 series if anyone needs them. Much of the running gear on a PV544 is similar to the 120/Amazon also.
