DIY rear upper chassis brace

I posted this on SS and thought I would post it here too.

Made a chassis brace for the wagon from some easily sourced Home Depot items.

Chassis brace is really stiff and aside from improving the handling characteristics of the car it has also removed all the creaking you hear when pulling out of driveways etc.

Only downside of this project is that the floor boards no longer sit flush. For me, it was an easy tradeoff for the increased stiffness and sharper handling.

So you bolted it to the floor and not the strut towers? Did you drill and tap the floor board?

There were two bolt holes in the floor next to the strut towers. They are M10. I used those.

I think they might be for the 3rd row seats.

Thanks for sharing. Can I achieve the same results by having an Ipd strut brace installed, like I did on my '05 C70?
