Volvo Repair Database S60 2003 Messages and weak engine performance.

Post by volver03 »

Hello, I own a 2003 S60 the engine perfomance is very weak and I have three messages coming on in the message board one of the them is service engine the other is Reduced engine performance, I forgot what the last one was. I have changed the oil in it but the engine power is still weak, I guess its because I have always driven American V8's therefore the smaller engine has not impressed me but I did buy it for the better gas mileage. Some feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Get the codes read. Go to autozone or any auto store and get the codes read. They may not be able to read the proprietary codes, in which case you need to go to Volvo to get that done. OBVIOUSLY if the car says reduced engine performance I would venture to guess your engine isn't performing as it should....

Get the code read... I had that a few months ago at WOT and it happened to be the turbo boost solenoid. When I read the code, it said that I had an "overboost" Bought the part from my dealer $65. It took 10 min to put in. Thee vacuum lines and a wire harness.

We (Volvo and I) are suffering from ''reduced engine performance'' , sporadically. Once in a lifetime is enough! The ONE thing she does not do is stall. The power drops suddenly from 100% to about 10% - extremely dangerous, needless to say.. This occurs at highway speed, this time, going up a slight hill on I83. no other ''warnings'' other than "service required'' ... I do all my own work - dealers cannot be trusted here in York County, PA.

Otherwise the car and the engine is clean, powerful and fairly easy on gas ..
