1990 740 Turbo
1990 740 Turbo
I have been unable to identify how this could happen and need to know the best corrective action. The pully off the main camshaft appears to have walked back about an inch and a half. Now all the belts are not square and rubbing against each other. The rear bely appears to even be cutting into the timing belt cover. I can't figure out if this is adjustable or not. Has anyone dealt with this issue or seen anything similar? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The crank pulley on your engine is an oscillation damper, sometimes called a harmonic balancer. It consists of a centre pulley section with a rubber strip sandwiched between it and an outer pulley section. Over a period of time the rubber can part company with the pulley sections. I have never heard of it causing the problem you are experiencing but it could be feasible.
Remove the belts and see if you can pull the pulley back into place.
Bill.
