95 volvo 960 computer reset

I was wondering when you clear the codes, when not making any changes, how long does code take to come back
Is there a time frame that you have to drive the car 50-100 miles or just let car run a certian amout of time????
I know I still have a problem and not trusting car to drive, but I have run in driveway a while and still no new codes
I am just trying to figure out how long it takes the computer to adujust all off its componets for fuel, air, mixture etc

Maybe you are thinking about emissions testing, where there are a string of tests in all sorts of driving and traffic conditions as with OBDii. But with OBDi, if the check engine light is not on, it still may fail an emissions test.

It really depends on what the code is, sometimes, things like fuel trim may not appear at idle only under part or full load, throttle position also might have some input for codes. There are other codes that will appear right away, like when a sensor signal is missing altogether, or there is an off the chart reading.

What was the code you were getting and what repairs did you make?

I had orignally had , lambda and O2
I had starting issues had altenator rebuild and the battery was toast.
Car starts right up now but also has irratic idle surges, I also am waiting on new wires for coils will redo
I would think after I reset the computer so all reads 1-1-1
That if some thing is wrong I would get a code, How long would it take computer to read code
