I just rebuilt the turbo on my parents V70 GLT wagon. I also replaced the PCV system, new plugs, and along with the battery.
The smog people tell us that there are several systems that need to be reset in order for the car to test and pass emissions testing and that the car has to be driven at different specific speeds for different durations of times and or distances in order to reset those systems.
We have not gotten any straight answers as to the specific speeds/ranges/times/distances that need to be driven. We'd like to get this right the first time if possible.
Can anyone tell me exactly what the reset protocols are?
Thanks in advance!

If you just drive like a normal person everything but the EVAP cycle will reset in the first 100 miles.
The EVAP can take longer, but you can actually pass your car without EVAP being ready if your state follows EPA rules. I think most every state does this.

Connecticut does not pass you with evap "not ready". I doubt California does either

Well, the car was driven about 200 miles round trip yesterday 'like a normal person' and this morning I ran through the above referenced drive cycle which was a total pain. I took the car to the smog check station and they said that none of the monitors had been reset. He said that the above driving schedule appeared to be for EGR reset which wouldn't be applicable to this car. Is there another drive cycle that is meant to reset the following monitors: Catalyst, EVAP, Secondary Air System, and Oxygen Sensor? Misfire, Fuel System, and Component were marked 'complete.'

That drive cycle is for all monitors
Gas tank between 1/4 and 3/4 full
AC off for whole trip
CA actually issues waivers for Many models, including Volvos, for difficult "monitor ready" cars

I've driven around town a bunch, and gotten out on the free way quite a bit since my last post, and done the drive cycle twice more, and the OBDII scanner is still telling me I have five of eight monitors not ready. I'm going to give it a shot doing the cycle at least one more time, twice if I have to, and I can find a good spot to wait for two hours while the engine cools. This is the most ridiculous process. Having no idea if it's even working or not is quite aggravating. I just hope that if my efforts today don't bear fruit that my parents 500 mile drive home will run the monitors. I really hope it works today because if they can get the car smogged up here where it's registered, it'll be cheaper and doesn't require a dyno test like it does in the higher population areas.
I give up. I just got back from doing the above referenced cycle yet again, and then getting out on the freeway for several runs. Unfortunately there are no stretches of freeway near me that I can get out over 55-60 mph for longer than 12-15 minutes at a time before hitting a stop light in any direction. I still have not gotten a single monitor beyond the three continuous monitors. I beginning to think this is impossible to nail without a dyno.

That's not right.
Unless you really have something wrong (always a possibility) it should go down to four not readies in 5-10 minutes,
After that you should get down to two within 100-200 miles and it will pass with two (2) not readies.
Just drive it normally WITH THE A/C OFF for a couple of days and see what happens
If the A/C is on it will never reset
