New to the site and need some help. The problem just starting this evening. When I got home and parked the car in 1st gear it started to roll back about 6 inches to a foot then catch and keep doing this until hit the brakes or pulled up the parking brake.. In second gear it would roll back faster with alot of clicking from the tranny. Each higher gear I moved it to it would roll back faster and faster. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Smitty

It sounds like the transmission is turning the engine backwards until a piston comes up on compression. As you shift up in the gears, the ratio becomes more favorable for gravity to do this. I'd say you're on a pretty steep hill or your engine doesn't have a whole lot of compression when it's hot. The solution would be to set the parking brake immediately when you park or select a flatter spot to park, if possible.Smitty1229 wrote:Yes, manual transmission with engine off.vegasjetskier wrote:Manual transmission?
