I must agree with jablackburn...Honda's engines are very reliable and, almost like Volvo's,they can accomplish a couple of hundred thousand miles without much problems. The same stands for Nissan,Mazda,Toyota...all of them are very reliable.

But...we love Volvo's!

The Japanese makes are fine cars that will run many many miles, but they have no soul. You open the door in the morning, turn the key, and, unless it is a Prius, they start and drive you to work. My next door neighbor has a Prius and it get really great mileage because it is constantly being hooked up to a tow truck.

My Volvo's have all had a soul, they are real cars for real drivers. Sure they have their idiosyncrasies but they are flat out fun to drive when you get the chance.

EXACTLY Ozark Lee.
What is the point of driving a car if it's no fun ???
I really get amazed when I see people (here in Quebec at least) trying to sell their cars and saying: "It is listed @ ...$ in the red book." ...
Is it really only about money and reliability?
Is it not about love between the car and the driver?

Sounds like something Shakespeare himself would have said.

Hi,

My V70 tdi has VW logo on the engine. I mean at the bottom of the oil pan.
They say it is from VW Transporter

True, Volvo used VW-Audi supplied diesel engines in cars from 1980 through 2000.
The 4 cylinder diesels used in Nedcar models and in the P1's are sourced from a joint venture of Citroen, Renault, and Ford.

I'm a huge fan of the B6304 and its variants of which, I understand, was the derivation of the 5 cylinder blocks. However, I have always wondered if the B63 was really meant to compete with BMW. The only sad part is that Volvo did not continue with turbo development on the six but switched to the five. I still want a B6304T in my V90... :-D
