For some reason I can't edit. Here's the FCP diagram, it looks more like my car:

It's piece number 11 on that kit that had the white gunk in it. And it seems like there is an oily film from that point to the throttle body.

My concern now is that there is oil in the intake. It's not soaked in oil, but it is there. The accordion tube had some near the turbo, but I attributed that to the PVC system. I assume if I see it here, it will be everywhere metered air goes, but is this normal and can I expect it to subside after the PCV is replaced?
Yeah I have that filmy oil in there as well. Not sure why. I replaced and cleaned the entire system and still get white smoke. I've given up. I really can't figure it out.

I just took apart the upper intake system to see if there were any other issues and noticed white gunk on part number 9 (I actually don't understand that diagram too much, as mine looks more like the tube above it but there is no number on it). Not sure what that means - probably it's clogged - but d'uh, I know it is :). I've cleaned out all the block holes, even poured seafoam down the tube #4.

I see you are in Raleigh as well. Hope you are enjoying the 'snow'. I did finish the PCV replacement. I tried cleaning some of the oil residue off of the intake, but it did not want to come off very easily, so I left it alone for the most part. I cleaned out the throttle body and IAC as best I could.

I still have a smoking dipstick though. :x I cleaned the PTC nipple about 500 mile prior to the replacement, but I need to check it again I guess. Mine is a bit strange, because it connects to the back of the engine since I have no intake port for it. I need to make sure that port is free and clear as well.

The car runs a lot better, but I am guessing that is due to the replacement of the faulty knock sensors rather than the PCV replacement.

Yeah I just did the balloon test and the dipstick exhaust puffs the bag up. I really have no idea whats left as I don't believe the hole in the block is blocked up because it drained all the seafoam down into the oil reservoir (you could hear the gurgle). Frustrating. It's pushing out the oil from the RMS as well.

If I had a second car I'd pull the engine and tear it down all the way...I'm determined to fix it before the car is retired...

LOL @ the snow comment, I grew up in NH. It's funny how people freak out down here.
