S60 Sunroof
S60 Sunroof
Hi, about to sell car and as always something goes wrong. Checked over all electronics and all works fine apart from sunroof. As it's January I don't think it has been used since last September when all worked fine. Now its dead. Move the switch to any position and nothing. Checked fuse and OK. Removed all plastic surrounding the switch in front of drivers mirror but can't see anything wrong. Please help.

I believe the UEM or upper electronic module is responsible for controlling the sunroof. It may have just "fell asleep", which might sound strange but since it hasn't been used in a while it is possible. You can try removing the battery, and see if that will "wake" the UEM back up. If that does not do it you can take it to a repair shop with VIDA and get a UEM reload or have them diagnose it. Hopefully it is just a software issue and not mechanical.

Unlock all your doors from inside the car, and shut it. Stick the key itself in the door, and lock/unlock the car 3 times. On the 850-series, this will reset the upper electrical module if this is your problem. It may have just "fell asleep", which might sound strange but since it hasn't been used in a while it is possible.

Car battery. Disconnect the negative lead, turn the ignition switch to start to drain the charge, and then reconnect it. I'd only do this if the other thing doesn't work - it resets all the engine adaptations & it will take your car a few drives to 're-learn' itself.

Well, so much for an easy fix...the only thing I can figure is that either there's a bad switch in the module, or the upper module needs to be reprogrammed.
Replacing the sunroof control module can be done yourself, as follows...but the reprogramming is a dealer-only fix, I'm afraid.
Most of me doubts that the motor itself is bad.
