S80 T6 2002 Outside Temp theromcouple fails at 32 = No Heat

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 T6 2002 Outside Temp theromcouple fails at 32 = No Heat

Post by Jammer »

The thermocouple that indicates the outside temperature appears to show a break (broken circuit) at 32 degrees or below. It works fine until the temp drops below 32, at that point it acts like ther's a break in the circuit and the temperature indicator ramps up to 144 or so. With the car now thinking its 140 degrees outside, the climate control is wacked and the only way to get heat into the car is to set it at MAX. I don't know where this thermocuple is or what where it connects to, any ideas?

The outside air temperature sensor is in the passenger side view mirror housing. Can't say where it connects though.
