S80 2000 check engine light flashing

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 2000 check engine light flashing

Post by speedmanwx »

Hi my friends, I got my 2000 S80 three years ago, lots of problem on it....
About 2 months ago the ABS and brake fail light on which scared me a lot, I spent about 800 bucks to have my ABS replaced with a used one, but the mechanic told me that the neither the AC nor the heated seat works any more. None of the buttons of heated seat, the temperature control on the passenger side and the rear window demist button works, I mean the indicate lights just gone.... So I drove this "luxury" car without any AC or heated seat for 2 months and fortunately North Carolina is not a cold place....
Yesterday a even bigger problem happened, the car suddenly began to shake back and forth, and the check engine light come up, when the engine rpm increase to 2000, the check engine light begin flashing until the rpm drop below 2000, or 1500, not very consist....
That is what happening to my s80, I would be very appreciated if any one could give me some suggestion about these issues... Really hate to send to car to dealership, that's not a good place for a graduate student....
Lots of thanks

Don't drive it much like this. You probably have a bad coil pack. Have the codes pulled for free at auto zone.

most likely code is po300,random miss fire multiple cylinders,i had this a month ago,and i had to replace all six coils,it's not hard to do,and they cost me 50 dollars each up here in Canada(on line)you should get new plugs to.btw if you pull the coils, inspect them for cracks ,you may need to replace 2 or 3 of them only, usually the ones under the turbo pipes go bad due to high heat. god hunting!! o and use volvo plugs, these cars don't really like anything else.

as for your heat\ac problems check fuses first, then turn ign.to off, disconnect batt.negative, wait few minutes, turn ign.key to pos.2 then reconnect battery.this resets all sorts of computers in the car,and resets the CEL to.it's worth a try.there are all sorts of good info in the repair data base on here to.
