850 fuel injector seal leak
i'm getting ready to replace a leaky lower fuel injector seal on my 1994 850 non turbo wagon...other than removing the fuel rail (2 bolts) are there any weird things i should look out for? should i replace all of them top and bottom? do they just come out or do i need to unscrew them? i've never worked on fuel injectors before so any advice would be appreciated...james
if the 94 injectors are the same as the 93 injector you will find two black O rings one top one bottom on the injector I found they need rolling off the injector then gently rolling back on bit if light lub helps a lot but dont get any in the injector cap
Best to do the entire set of 10 they don't cost much and will make the job better also the large injector seals might be worth replacing too.

The fuel rail is very simple to remove. All you need to do is relieve the pressure form the fuel rail, disconnect the fuel line, remove the two bolts and then gently remove the fuel rail. The injectors should pop out of the intake manifold and stay connected to the fuel rail. Make sure that all of the o-rings are accounted for. You do not want one to fall into the intake manifold and get sucked into the engine when you start it up.

Just push on the schrader valve at the end of the fuel rail. Once you take that silver cover off you'll see it. Get a plastic cup or something to drain the fuel into.

It will start off under a decent pressure, I use a rag to catch the initial spray and be careful not to get gas in your eyes. I'm not "Sammy Safety" but man Gasoline in the eyes really hurts (been there, done that) so if you have goggles I would advise using them for that procedure.
The rag will stink up your house if you toss it into a trash can in the garage so I just leave it along side the house until the next trash day.

my fuel rail is attached to a solid line on the passenger side and does not have a disconnect bolt. i need to do the pcv tomorrow and i'm not quite sure how to get the manifold out without removing the rail. i was going to go ahead and replace all 10 injector o rings while i'm at it.
Whats the easiest way to do this?
thanks,
andrew

I just lifted the rail away from the manifold and left the line connected. It just hung there while I was working the PCV.
If all you're doing is PCV and the o-rings on the injector bodies, then I don't see any particular reason to depressurize the fuel system.

thanks for the response. so if i disconnect the rail and take out the injectors i don't need to hit the schrader valve? wont fuel spray everywhere? wouldn't it be easier to just depressurize?
thanks.
