Bought a clutch cable but it doesnt fit? 1990 240DL

When my mechanic went to put it on the attatchment for the clutch pedel wasn't right. The parts store says its the right one. Help anyone! what am I looking for ... brand, parts number, etc.

is the cable too long? if it is you probably dont have the rubber spacer on the Clutch Arm. Another problem could be your clutch needs to be replaced, the pressure plate got pressurized too many times
