1999 S80 T6 Burning oil

It says to clean the PTC, how do I get the PTC out of the air intake tubing with out breaking it? Does it turn a certain way or do I just pull on it? I pulled and turned a little but I don't want to break it if theres a certain way to get it out.

I'm not sure since I have never removed mine. However, I don't think it applies to your situation since you have excess oil in the tubes: it's not a problem of the PTC being clogged and not allowing the vapors through. What I think might be the problem with your car is if the oil return opening in the front of the block is clogged then the oil will not be able to drain back and excess oil will be sucked into the intake.

The port I am talking about is circled in red in this photo:

I think you were right. Have the oil separator off. I stuck my finger in the hole that you have circled. Well, stuck it unto a bunch of gunk. Have it cleaned out now. Do I need a new separator or can I just clean the old one?

You can clean the old one as long as it's not cracked.

I'm going to put it back together this weekend, put some sea foam in the oil and then change it to hopefully clean out any more sludge in the engine. Sprayed throttle body cleaner on the throttle body intake manifold and on the valves to try and clean those up a bit. Hope this fixes it. Purchased the car like this so haven't really drove it yet. Excited to see how it drives

Have it back together and drove a couple of times. Still smokes, but a lot less than it did before. I figured that was from all the oil in the system from before (turbos, exaust, intercooler exc..) But after driving for awhile the oil light came on.

Still loosing oil. Checked the codes and got a P1237 (Manufacturer control fuel air metering) and P0300 -Pending (Random/ Multiple cylinder misfiring detected) This was the first time I checked the codes since I got the car. I drove it a few miles and the triangle in the middle of the dash stayed on. Rechecked and it said there were no codes. The screen on the left is telling me I have a light out. Is that the cause of the triangle? I also checked the system monitors (misfire monitor exc..) and they all said OK.

Any ideas of where I'm loosing oil? Doesn't smoke as bad as before, but does smoke more under acceleration. Most of the time it pretty much clears up while coasting, but not always. And still have the smoking dipstick.

Unfortunately, if it's not the oil separator it's probably a more serious problem. You could have a turbo seal leak, bad piston rings, or bad valve guide seals. I think I'd run a cleaning cycle of AutoRx in it and see if that helps - it might free up stuck rings if that's the issue. www.auto-rx.com

I just pulled the trigger on a '99 S80 last weekend. Hope to pick it up this week.

How much oil is it consuming exactly? I'm not convinced with the smoke from the dipstick test. With the engine warm, pop either a baloon or rubber glove over the dipstick hole (Dipstick removed of course!!) if it inflates you have work to do, if it sucks it in slighty, your PCV is good to go.
