I may have misread one of the earlier posts, I removed the capacitor that was there on the OEM setup and let the speaker work as a full range speaker when I installed mine. I got confused since my Infinity's also had a capacitor going to its tweeter and that was the one I thought Os was talking about.

So Lee, are you saying you didn't connect those big-arse caps that were included with the infinitys in the separate bag?
I actually already popped my new speakers in this afternoon, and so far everything appears to be working. . .though I had a little trouble determining if I was getting sound at first due to their close proximity to the front door panel speakers. Cupped my ears and tried to muffle the door panels, and I heard beautiful sound coming from the dash
You think keeping the big caps on there will cause any ill effects?

My set-up looks exactly like yours.mercharch wrote:So Lee, are you saying you didn't connect those big-arse caps that were included with the infinitys in the separate bag?

So far so good. I can definitely hear them
I did save the original caps though just in case.
Now I'd like to replace the other speakers as well, but have a bad wheel bearing, stage 0 and maybe PVC to do first!

Ordered these speakers recently and installed them today. Easy as pie. I de-soldered the factory connectors from the stock speakers and soldered them to the new speakers. I did not use the extra-large caps, as the specs of the cap in-line with the Infinity's matched the specs of the factory caps. To mount them, I used some spare trim screws I had around that came with a v-shaped metal clip I slipped over the one hole that lined up to screw in to. I used short self-tapping screws to get a second anchor point, and they tightened up nicely. Sounds good so far! Thanks for the tips. Anyone have a similarly cheap and easy replacement for the rear pillar speakers in the wagon?

As far as mixing 8 & 4 ohm speakers... I've corresponded with the Crutchfield Tech Staff. They say there's no problem with mixing them.
