Replacing inlet or outlet coolant hose

Post by Guest »

Hello everyone I have recently become a Volvo owner. I own a 1994 850 Turbo great car no real problems except the coolant hose that goes into the engine from the firewall has busted. My question is how do I remove the hose from the firewall? Is it some sort of quick connect? I priced the hose at my local dealer here in Tyler, Texas at $73.40 each. Is that reasonable? Also should I replace both of them while I'm in the process. Any advice or suggestion from the more experieced would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Luther

Hey guys I could really use some advice. I have the Haynes manual but I can't seem to find it in there, so I would appreciate some feedback. I have a printout from the dealer and the part numbers are 9186849 & ******7.
Thanks,
Luther

Squeeze the little plastic tabs together (they are yellow on a `96) that are on both sides of the brass connector. Then wiggle the hose slightly and pull straight out. Carefully remove the little plastic saddle thingys with the tabs from the brass connectors and put them on the new hoses. To install wet the O-ring with antifreeze and push straight in making sure they lock in place.

The change interval for coolant hoses is about 125K.

I think you could do way better than the dealer price. Try looking online starting with fcpgroton.com

Hey Dosbricks or anyone else that wants to chime in. I managed to get the top heater hose off but it seems that the bottom hose that goes into the engine is going to be a little tricky. Any pointers!!! Thought maybe I'm going to have to jack the car up and reach it from the underneath side???? What do you think!!

Help

Thanks
