Sometimes, when I pull away (from a dead stop), there is a noise coming from the gearbox as if something is engaging, like a knock. I don't know too much of automatic gearboxes, but I think maybe there is oil missing. Does anyone of you have similar problem or experienced this?

MINE TOO!!! IM RIGHT THERE WITH YOU PAL!!! I BOUGHT MY 2001 V70 T5 IN DECEMBER. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF WORRIES ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION, ESPECIALLY HAVING TO REPLACE IT! MY CAR JUST CLICKED OVER 100K, AND FROM READING UP ON MY NEW CAR....I DISCOVERED THAT ITS NOT THE BEST TRANSMISSION IN THE WORLD! PLUS, ITS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX IF SOMETHING DOES GO WRONG. SO, WHEN MY CAR STARTED MAKING A VIBRATING NOISE NEAR THE GEAR STICK....I STARTED PAYING ATTENTION. MY CAR STARTED TO RANDOMLY SHIFT HARD FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. AND WHILE DRIVING IT STARTED TO SHIFT WITH A JOLT THAT YOU COULD FEEL IN YOUR SEAT. IM CONFUSED ON THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH...SOME PEOPLE TELL YOU TO HAVE THEM HOOK IT UP TO THE TRANSMISSION FLUSH MACHINE AND OTHERS SAY THAT ITS THE WORST THING TO DO. SO, IM DEBATING ON WHAT TO DO. BUT EITHER WAY, MACHINE OR HAND DONE, A TRANSMISSION FLUSH OR CHANGE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHATS WRONG. IF YOU HAVE IT DONE AND THE TICKING IS STILL THERE IT MIGHT BE A MORE MAJOR PROBLEM.....OR IT COULD JUST BE A LOOSE BOLT! EITHER WAY, ITS PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA TO FLUSH OUT YOUR TRANNY.!
As has been posted here on this forum and others many times before. If it hasn't already been done, take your car to the dealer, have the stop-neutral function in the transmission disabled and be sure it has all of the latest software downloads. Drain and refill the transmission or flush via the transmission cooler line, (pump two quarts out, put two quarts in), not by a flush machine. Use only JWS 3309 spec fluid (dealer, Mobil 1 3309, or Toyota T-IV fluid) and cross your fingers.

Listen to what Otis44 had to say as he nailed it perfectly. A power flush is just more problems. I've use the cooler line technique with 2 out 2 in technique and it is quite easy. Drain and fill works too, but getting the fill level right is a bit more difficult, but manageable.
