P0011 Engine Code - camshaft sensor - timing advance

Post by sxd123 »

I've got this code intermittently the last 3 months. Has anyone had this. Doesn't seem to affect engine performance. And the cure? replace sensor. mechanic has told me that mechanic forum says contaminated oil could be the culprit here.

A friend is dealing with this same issue. We pulled the solenoid and found some sludge in one of the oil galleys. Clenaed it and replaced it with the new gasket which has a filter in. His is an 02 S60 N/A. The code is now very infrequent. The engine light comes on and then goes off. We will clean the solenoid next time and if not a complete fix we will replace the VVT solenoid.

Wish I had an answer for you but this is where we are at right now.

Here's a bit of reading for you:

And finally, the replacement procedure:

The solenoid replacement should be almost, if not exactly identical on your S60 as ecb's XC70 if you choose to go about it yourself.
