In all honesty, personally - No - I always ended up at dealer (twice) to buy and re-program a new one. However as far as dirty contacts are concerned I stand behind the contact cleaner - I use it for most electrical cleaning. Also a pencil eraser works in a pinch for "gold" contacts - not a pen eraser.

What if it is a relay issue?

If your car operates the central locking flawlessly with just the key then it's the alarm relay almost sure. My 440 had a similar issue, the hazzard lights worked well, except when operating the fob; the lights didnt flash anymore all of a sudden. I went to the service and they didn't even had to check it they just said it's the alarm relay that is faulty and needs to be changed.

It's about a 940 but it can give you some hits about what to do.

I have a 1998 V70R with similar issues. The remote will unlock the two back doors and the rear door, as well as lock all of the doors. Placing the key in the drivers door to unlock will unlock all but the front passenger door. The controls in the car work the same as the drivers door, full functionality except unlocking the front passenger door. Any ideas where to start? What worked for you?

Sounds like you'll need new latch/actuator mechanisms for the two front doors.

I have 2 remotes, one had the problem in the title and one didn't work at all. Opened them up, sure enough the buttons were all gummed up with green corrosion. After soaking in 100% rubbing alcohol and working the buttons, I removed a lot of gunk with Qtips. Remote now works flawlessly from 40 feet, gave it totally new life.jblackburn wrote:Rubbing alcohol & a Q-tip/cotton ball
Still working on the second remote, one button was frozen with gunk and it is starting to free up after soaking in alcohol for an hour. We'll see how it goes with that one, I bought it from a forum member and was never able to sync it with my car because the buttons don't work.
