V70 99 Abs advice?

Hi guys, can anybody tell me if a 9472650 abs module can be replaced with a 9472100? just to clarify, my car originally had a 9472650 which i could not find anywhere. I found a 9472100 which i had reconditioned and fitted but the fault remained i just wonder if i have a compatability issue?
Also this morning i disconnected the left hand front abs sensor and lost my speedo. I reconnected it and got my speedo back. I then tried disconnecting the right hand side front and it made no difference at all?! i still had my speedo working and abs light on as it was before i disconnected it. Do you think i could have an abs sensor issue? thanks in advance guys!

I am Not positive, but methinks I've read that the
LF is the sensor the system tracks speed from.
I would suggest contacting Mr Rocha to confirm.

Could i have nailed it guys???!!! i was checking the under bonnet earths and found the small braided earth cable at the timing belt side of the cylinder head is corroded and detached from the body earth point! who thinks that running a replacement to a good earth point will do the trick?

Worth a shot! If it doesn't solve your ABS problems, it may solve other weird issues that arise from bad ground connections.

Ok guys replaced the faulty earth strap. Still got abs light on, can anybody advise me if there are any other sneaky earth points which could be worth checking? perhaps a diagram of under bonnet earth locations would be really useful if anybody has such a thing. Also my mechanic tried to test the front abs sensors with an multimeter and got no reading on either, he tested them under the bonnet without turning the wheels do you think he is being stupid? is he missing something obvious? he said he would drive the car with a laptop on the obd2 and test them that way but that will cost $$ any better ideas or advise on testing them? just to mention also my car is a 99 so a non-volvo scanner may not be of any use for obd2 - so i've been told. It is rumored that there is a cracked version of VOL-FCR floating around on pirate bay. That along with a VAG-COM serial cable and a laptop computer will allow you to read the ABS codes yourself. The Vag-Com cable is readily available on eBay.

what exactly would a volvo scanner be needed for in this case? and how does it differ from a regular obd2? for what its worth to the op, a consumer grade actron obd2 scanner picked up a bad wheel sensor in my 99 v70

There are a number of proprietary Volvo codes for systems like the ABS, SRS, the ECC, the power seats, etc. No standard OBD-II scanner will deal with anything other than powertrain codes unless you get into the really expensive ($600+) pro models that have vehicle specific software cards which cost extra for that specific vehicle on a per vehicle basis.

Federal law only mandates that the standard powertrain codes be readable by a universal OBD-II scanner.

The funny thing is that VOL-FCR deals with most of the proprietary systems except the engine unless it is Motronic 4.4 ECU. Upgrading to the Actron will give you more neat features like real time engine performance monitoring but when it comes to reading codes it is really no different than the cheapest of scanners.

Wow Ozark Lee!! your info is priceless. I tried to interogate the systems today after recieving my vag cable and installing vol-fcr as you mentioned. However i can only read the autobox, instruments, volvo alarm and volvo immobiliser ecus. It won't let me read the abs ecu or engine ecu which are the ones i need to read. I notice that it is for v70s upto 98 whereas mine is a 99 with ETS and variable valve timing. Do you think this is the reason why? all it tells me is that the car won't communicate ensure ignition is at position 2. Do you have any further suggestions? Big thanks from big Al!!!
