Climate Control and Heated Seat Problem

Post by chrissodey »

I have a 2001 V70 T5. The drivers side blows cold when the passenger side blows hot. Both of the settings for temperature are set the same. In addition to this the drivers side heated seat does not work where the passenger side heated seat does. I know in my 1998 S70 the heated seats where controlled by the climate control for heat output, but I'm not sure if it is the same with the V70. I'm not sure where to start. I did check the fuses are they are good. I have tried to disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative leads together to reset the system, but that didn't work.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Which vent blows the "proper" temperature that's closest to your setpoint? Does the light for the driver's side heated seat turn on when you press the button? You'll need to start fault tracing by checking the resistance on the heater connections. I've attached a PDF excerpt of the wiring diagram for your car's heated seat system. 9/16-9/19 are the seat heaters, 7/110-111 are the thermostats, 4/201-202 are the heated seat control modults. Check the seat pads for continuity (disconnect them from the heated seat controller, located under the seat) before testing, and get back to us.

Thank you for your help.

It seems the entire driver's side blows cold, middle section left vent, far left vent, and the drivers side vent that blows to the back. It also seems the symptoms are the same whether I choose the air to blow towards the head, middle, or feet.

The light comes on for the drivers heated seat (both high and low), just no heat. I have checked the fuse and it is good.

So I guess for the heated seat I need to break out my volt meter and check the ohms to see if it is always open.
