Just re-built my 22 year old Craftsman yard Tractor w/ a 20 hp Onan engine.
Took her down to chassis and Port & Polished the intakes
I've been a Motorcycle guy all my life and this is my 1st big time Car project.
I built Stroker HD's and have access to several machine shops w/ Bridgeport's and Lathe's.
I'll do as much as I know I can't f@ck up and let my buddies keep me in check.
There is a Guy down the street that builds Hot Rods and I have a friend that has a Mopar collection that would rival any collection in the States. (he is a Moter Freak! )
I'll try to capture as much of this as possible, but you must promise not to laugh at me. :D

Wow, this is a really cool project! I really hope you keep up on this, so we can follow it. And just because you haven't done it before doesn't mean you can't be successful! Gotta start that dream somewhere! If you ever decide to sell that beast when it's done, let us know. I live in Pennsy, and I would drive all the way to St. Louis for that! I, too, have fallen head over heels for the T5-R. Grew up in nothing but Volvos, Rigs, and Harleys, and now I'm a Volvo driver myself.

Alas, restoration projects are out of my reach for the time being, since I'm only 23, living in an apartment with my boyfriend, and I have lots of other life establishments that have to come before that. Have to have a place to restore a car before I can get into anything. But the T5-R is my dream, and it will happen someday. I actually just saw one of the yellows for sale for $3000 in VA beach. Running and inspected! That's worth it even if you're just going to tear it down! I can't wait to see how yours turns out, good luck and godspeed. :D

I got a message from Andrew a few days ago and he said he's still working on it, but slowly. Working on the little things. Family and job getting in the way of more important things.

As we have just gained another hour of our glorious Sun I am cleaning out the garage and preparing to get this Black Beauty on the road. She had sat abandoned in my driveway all Winter and I am ashamed for my lack of attention and love.
Time to do what I said I was gonna do, adjust the "Priority list" and place her at the top.
I never stopped thinking about her, just want to make her worthy for the title.
She is a contender

HELP!!!!
Since I removed all interior and much of the engine bay for power washing and inspection I did not get a chance 'Pickle' her good.
I did change oil & tranny fluids but need to get her running before I do the final restoration.
I've decided to get her to 280-300 hp, keep the 'Auto trans' and drive her everyday.
My quarry is 'how much interior would I have to replace to get ignition'?
I have spent this Winter cleaning and verifying relays and switch's as I want to use as much of her original factory stuff as possible.
I will upgrade Turbo, intake, exhaust manny, suspension, brakes, exhaust system and 'port & polish' the head.
Just need to get her to 'fire' to verify and flush.
Let the chaos begin.

What an excellent project, I bought a 96' GLT this past December as project and really wanted a turbo but the price was
so great considering she is mechanically fit with 90 something on the odometer. You have alot of work ahead of you but
I enjoy working on since she's a second ride for me. Please keep us posted, I know i'm very interested in seeing your
progress, Shiloh.

She is going into the garage this Spring.
I've been fiddling with bits and pieces, cleaning and such.
Have a great body & paint guy down the street who is bona-fide 'Hot Rod' builder.
Have reconsidered my final 'recipe' and shall bring her back a little hotter than stock. $$$$$$$

Update: Having gotten farther into the mechanicals I determined that she was beyond repair.
I have harvested the complete interior and would part out if interested.
Crying shame. . . .
