Coolant Type C.. equivalent

New to owning a Volvo, have a 1987 740 wagon. There are no Volvo dealers where we live. We live in a warm Climate.
-Wondering if there is a Coolant equivalent to the needed 'Type C'
-Vehicle came without a Manual (Is there a site where manuals are available)

I've been using just the standard green Prestone anti-freeze in my '88 760. Make sure to do a drain and fill of the system though (it's a good idea anyway), don't power flush it however. I've read that some other folks really like Peak antifreeze. Last time I checked @ my local Volvo dealer they wanted ~20+ dollars for a gallon of the type C. In my opinion, given the age of the car, and the fact that Prestone AF passes if not surpasses the requirements for engine coolant, save a few bucks. Just make sure if you get the straight stuff, to cut it with distilled water.
