Remote won't work

Here's a problem for all you pros - I replaced two items on my 99 S80. The inside rear view mirror and the drivers door lock actuator. Both parts came from a dismantler - they were not new parts. Now my remote will not unlock/lock the doors, trunk, nothing. I was told by the dealer the actuator was the problem, but the dismantler says the receiver for the signal from the remote is in the mirror so that's the problem. Any advice?

Try locking/unlocking the doors (with the key, in the driver door) 3 times. See if that helps

Dude, I did the same thing. Everything, door locks, sunroof, and a couple of other things run through the riew view mirror. That's why there are so many wires going to it. Put the old one back in and go to the parts store and find a replacement mirror, take the glass out, and glue it to your old mirror and put it back in. The other choice is buying an "NEW" mirror, which comes with remotes, and having that mirror programed to your car. DON'T THROW AWAY THE OLD MIRROR!!! The fix is only available through Volvo and runs about a grand!....for a mirror!!!
