Hi there new to this forum and about to do the oil sump repair. the one question I have that I would like everyones input on is
The two tools used in the vadis are 50 bucks for the engine lift plate 50 bucks no problem on cost but unavailable until June 15th doing the job this week.
the support bar is 600 bucks ouch when you would only need it once.
what tools do you all use in place of these? Will a universal engine support bar and for example a harbour freight one would that work in place of the volvo version? basically these are the two things I would like to hear what you all have used in place of these for us backyard mechanics. Any help on this topic would be greatful.

second that I used the harbour freight engine support bar as well worked fine, I just did this repair and the instructions from vadis well at least in my case I had to pretty much drop the whole subframe out of the car. and the pan did just fall out then. otherwise I had like an 1" 1/2 on each side using vadis instructions making it pretty much impossible to put back in.
