95 960 dtc reader led steady "on"

led for port #1 (for the trans) does not go out or flash when i plug into it, just a steady glowing light. dash arrow on steady (no flashing). seems to be in winter mode with intermittent short bursts of downshifting into a "real" gear. tried replacing W-E-S switch to no avail. can't run any tests until i get past this glitch. thanks for any help.

have you tried unlocking the selector? There is a procedure for this on this sight and in most owners manuals. I have heard of many cars with this problem.

not sure what you mean by "selector"? the actual gear selector? it's not locked. my primary problem is that i can't get any trans codes out of the unit. with a scan tool all i get is "communication failure". fluid level good, connectors at trans good, reverse lights good, soft clicking heard after starting and putting back in "park".

swapped out tcm - same as before. will check obd unit as described. thanks.

problem solved: tcm had lost its ground somewhere in the harness. ran new wire from pin to ground and system went back to normal.
