Yeah, I plan on hanging on to the wagon for now, atleast to keep as a daily. Going to try and find a newer year wagon with a turbo as my project, fun car. Without the turbo its quick and fun to drive, Im thinking I'll just work the suspension a little just to try and control the body roll a little bit.

Thanks for the explanation on the codes, The car runs very good actually, which suprised me when reading about all those things. The thermostat might be a PITA but thinking about it now, its a very cheap fix, so its worth to do it now, and not have it cause me problems in the long run. The other stuff should be simple enough and for the time being will just cost me money for the cleaning agent.

Last night I installed a new radiator, My first time repairing/installing something new on a volvo, Ive always worked on american cars, but doing the radiator was simple- However, Im not to pleased with the retaining clip system on the radiator cooling lines, They aren't holding well enough, and are causing it to leak So i'll be taking a drive to the volvo dealer to pick new clips and O-rings up. Those little buggers are P R I C E Y, I could order them cheaper online but Im looking to get the car driving again right away. Is there a different clip I can use? or is that the only way to attach them in volvos? I feel like its a sketchy system, but It cant be to bad if they've been using them that way for so long!

As for the speedometer signal missing, it would be great if that fixes both my speedo/odo in one shot. Is this part difficult to get to and change out? Is there any way to tell if it is bad or is just replacing it the only option there?

I am still trying to decide what Id like to do about an air intake, K&N? some other brand? How much difference will I really get with the cold air intake? any suggestions? or experiences

Thank you to everybody whose responded so far, Im very happy with my decision to take my questions and everything to this board over other sites. Everyone has been extremely helpful, and as soon as I can I will certainly make a contribution to the site.

I've run K&N's on all my cars, and I really liked the improvement it made to my little Honda. I can't really tell a huge difference dropping one into my Volvo, but it's a turbo.

One of the biggest improvements you can make to an NA engine is doing these two "mods"

On my clip, after I un-did the transmission line, I fastened 2 zip-ties around the line, as I bent the clip slightly. It seems to hold for now, but I think some kind of clip system like the little things you screw on a hose to connect different attachements would have been a better idea.

Changing the sensor isn't difficult, but try Lee's suggestion first to check out the wiring.

Sorry to join the party late. Nate take a look at these two threads. Maybe we can help each other out witht he suspension work? I'm at the same stage you are. Also, Lee, I thought only the late model s70's had the ABS connected to the speedometer? My ABS module is toast for now but I still have my speedometer and odometer.

UGH.

I now find myself in a jam, after just getting the car on the road. As I had already said, my speedo/odo dont work, Well now I think I found a problem bigger then that. The arrow light on my dash began flashing almost immediately after the first drive in the car after repairs. With The Economy light doing funky things, and the S light chiming in as well. Making the transmission jumpy, and indecisive leaving the car out of commission until I fix it, whatever IT is.

Now reading around, I find a lot of people have this problem, But nobody has posted what causes the problem, or how to fix it. Just my luck. Its interesting, as my girlfriends car, a 91' honda accord (dailydriver) recently had this problem, only it just had a "sport" mode light flashing instead of both E and S lights.
It was like deja vu in a different car. Her mechanic managed to fix it, off hand Im not sure what exactly the part was, but once replaced it fixed the speedometer, odometer, and the car drives wonderfully and not a single problem with the trans being all weird and jumpy. I doubt the part would be the same in a volvo of course but does anyone know exactly what it is I need to fix?

This is driving me crazy, I hadnt even driven the car for a day after doing the radiator and all that fun stuff and now Im back working on the car, to make things worse.. its my "Daily" driver

ANY help.advice, please is so so very appreciated.

*** and on a side note, Ive started looking around for my project volvo, something already turbo, I think I'll go with something thats not a wagon. atleast a 94'. Would like to find a R model also, has anyone come across anything worth looking at? I will be searching in the tristate area, but will drive anywhere for the right vehicle. Shoot me some links or something if you have any ideas. will also taken suggestions for something I should be leaning towards, a certain year, model, trim. thanks again in advanced guys
