I have spent hours last night and today reading everything that I could find regarding the exact location of the Fuel Pressure Regulator on my 1998 (10/1997 Mfr) Non-Turbo 2WD S70 with a B5254S Engine. I found the Fuel Pulsation Damper located on the left side (Pax Side) of the Fuel Rail.
Do you know the exact location of the FPR on this car?
Thanks,
Jim

Contact FCP Groton at the top of this page...They can tell you which regulator you have...I understand that there are two units for this car, one where there is a fuel return line to the tank and it is called a regulator, and one without a return line...I would imagine that this is a pulsation damper...They are both located on the fuel rail...

I believe it's back by your right rear tire; how many fuel lines do you have up TO the engine? 98's are weird, and there are strange differences in the fuel/emissions systems between the early and late models and between the turbo and non-turbo models.

My engine has the Pulsation Damper connected at the fuel rail, not the FPR. I think that "jablackburn" is right and when I have a little time I'm going to look in the rear for the FPR for future reference.jerrymcc wrote:I understand that there are two units for this car, one where there is a fuel return line to the tank and it is called a regulator, and one without a return line...I would imagine that this is a pulsation damper...They are both located on the fuel rail...
I repaired my problem but I was traveling without a computer and could not answer sooner.
I thought that I had a bad FPR as my engine when warm would bog down and the RPM would drop to about 500 RPM when I came to a stop and idled for more than a minute or two yet run great at speed. Not good when you try to pull out into traffic!!
Earlier today I started looking at vacuum hoses and found that the vacuum hose that is attached to the front of the intake manifold close to the driver's side of the manifold was broken in two. I cut the clamp and piece of hose off that was still attached to the manifold and re-attached the remaining original vacuum hose. The difference was immediate. All bogging down and RPM drop was gone! I had to stop on two occasions today and I left the car idling for up to a half hour and absolutely no problem even in the heat of the day up at 8,000' with the AC on!
Does anyone know the component that the broken vacuum hose was attached to?
Thanks for your input,
Jim

On my 98 s70 there is a pulsation dampener under the fuel rail and the Fuel Pressure Regulator is located in front of the right rear wheel.
