Hey Everyone,
Heres a good one. I have had for quite some time a noise that sounds like jingling keys coming from somewhere underneath my 850. I hear it with the windows open while hitting bumps. I did struts and rear brakes in the fall and most recently the drivers side axle. This noise was here before all these were done and continues today. Had it on the lift at my friends garage and we can't figure it out. Everything appears tight in the suspension. This has been a tough one to figure out. Any ideas on this would be great. Thanks Frank
See if you can diagnose this noise
Perhaps this is the same noise that was on my car. I recently did pads and rotors all around, but I ended up breaking off the old parking brake shoe lining on one side taking the rear rotor off. Since I didn't have a set of parking brake shoes with me, I loosened the parking break cable quite a bit just to take tension off the shoes. Ever since, I get a jingling sound that I can hear when my window is open. Perhaps you'd want to check to see if the cable is loose on your car? Just my 2 cents....

Had a similar noise from underneath my V70. Intermittent yet annoying. Finally traced it to the front end, passenger side. The backing plate behind the brake rotor was slightly bent making contact with the rotor under certain conditions. Simple fix. Might be worth investigation.
Check the drop links [swaybar links] they're a common area for failure and will clunk and click as you go over bumps as will a broken caliper spring.

I had a similar sound in an old dodge I had. Sorry, only 3 weeks volvo experience. Anyway, the radiator was rotten and the fins were coming off bit by bit, getting thrown by the fan onto the engine, under the vehicle and hitting heat shrouds creating a 'key jingle' sound. No kidding.

If this were on a '55 or '56 Chevy, I'd say it's a hanger in your exhaust system. The resonant frequencies of combustion caused the "tinkling". Most of them did that. Maybe worth checking.
I think i've figured out the jingling noise. The u shaped piece that fits on the a-arm that works as the bump stop. Both sides are loose that you can tap it with your finger and BAM......jingle bells. Amazing !!
