V70 2001 Thottle Body and Transmission failure

Post by sadvolvo »

Hi
I have a 2001 2.4T with 97,000 miles. Before this car I owned a 1981 GLT manual transmission and took it to 305,000 miles. No major problems, just the standard maintenance

^ This thread provides in depth info concerning the throttle body. The rough idle you described could be the software that they updated or it could be the throttle body. The cost to fix at the dealer is $1000. If you decide to replace, contact me and I'll give you the info to save bundles of money on the fix.

I've never heard of a transmission failure on one of the P2 cars. I'd get a second opinion if I were you. Has the fluid ever been changed before? If so, who did it?

As far as I have read up on, that Throttle Body is most likely defective. The TB, also known as the ETM, used a TB/ETM from a Italian supplier in model years '99-'01 that turned out to be a bad part (failing way too prematurely) so I would call the dealer back and demand to speak to someone high up the dealer chain and insist that they address this issue. Then call headquarters if you don't get anywhere. The transmission failure, on,the other hand unfortuneately, is another story. I agree with above though about I don't see how this could have happened so quickly after you just got the car serviced and what those other problems would have to do with the trans. failing. Something smells fishy there. Definately get a second opinion on that.
