240 or 740?

I'm thinking about selling my 240 in order to find and buy a 740. The 240 has rust, and I figure if I keep throwing parts into it, I'll just lose money. I'd also like to learn more about the 740. What do you guys think? 740 or 240? Are parts interchangeable between the two? What are the pros/cons with both models?

I must confess, I was never a big 740 fan. Yes, it is a newer design, and probably has more interior room. Mechanically, I believe there is a lot of commonality between the two. But the 240's unapologetically old-fashioned design always appealed to me. It's really just a question of preference. At this point, both are fairly obsolete under powered sedans.

Just like my car, for that matter.

I own both. The 740 has some newer features and lighter aluminum suspension pieces up front. I MUCH prefer the 240. The 240 is durable, safe, and inexpensive to maintain. I like the lines better.

I have had both, as well. I bought a 740 Turbo new in '86 and have had three 240's. I liked the power I had with the 740T but, always preferred the simple function and style (?) of the 240. side by side I would choose a 240.
