ets light check engine light and all gages

I know you have many many post about ets light and check engine light being on at the same time, but I have not found anything that includes cluster gauges also not working. Just happened. Car runs rough, but runs. 167,000 miles.

Just to let you know, someone on another site recommended I do a master restart, disconnect the battery and touch the leads together to reset the cluster, then reconnect the battery. I just did it, now the cluster works, the ets light went out, the check engine light went out and the car runs smooth. I'm confused!

You basically did a <ctrl><alt><del> and rebooted the system. Your fuel mileage may suffer a bit for the first tank of fuel or two while the relearning process occurs.

Thank you, but I'm still trying to understand why this happened. Did a problem with the etm cause this or was there another problem that is going to reoccur?
