dash concerns

Post by A.Baker »

Hello every one!

I have an 87 740t. The service light came on and i pulled the dash and hit the reset button. Now the only thing on the dash that works is boost gauge, volt gauge an arow under the tach. and the tach only works @ half rpm.
Any help would be greatly appricated.
Thanks for your time.

Probably you have lost some ground when pulling it. It seems like you do not have any feeding to the voltage stabilisator at the instrument cluster. You have to take it out and searh for missing wire. I think the ground is a separate AMP flat connector. Those are getting "tired" after all this years and could easily be half loose or totally loose. Loosen all connectors and put them back a couple of times in order to get rid of oxidation. If you are going to loose all at the same time, my advice is to make some good notes, to be used when to put the cluster back again.
