1999 S80 T6 Transmission filter
1999 S80 T6 Transmission filter
I called my local Volvo parts department to inquire about the cost of a transmission filter. The dude says there is no such thing. What gives? I've seen the write up on the repair database on replacing the filter.

VADIS doesn't list a filter for the transmission but does give instructions on how to change it.
Next stop - our sponsors. Three out of four don't list it but FCP does. Having obtained the pert number from FCP I ran a search on VADIS - still nothing.
FCP's link is at the top of the forum.

The filter is also available at most Auto Parts stores since the transmission is used in many GM vehicles also. I picked one up a few months back from AutoZone for only $13.00. It's listed under the 1999 Volvo S80 so no special cross reference needed. It looked exactly the same as the original Volvo one I had put on a year ago.
I did not use the cheap rubber gasket that came with the filter but instead cleaned and reused my original gasket. The factory gasket is very good and can be reused many times over.

IIRC a filter from a 98 Pontiac Bonneville SSE with a 3800 is EXACTLY the same. The transmissons are somewhat different, but they use the same filter. Compare the P/N if you are unsure...
