When you do the timing belt, make sure the cams do not move at all. If the VVT system gets off sync, you are in deep trouble.

The prior comment on making sure the cams don't move is very important. I assume you have read the instructions posted here or on other forums, so you know how to find TDC to rotate past by 90 degrees and then back. I counted the notches in the belt between the 2 TDC cam gear marks to make sure I put the new one on correctly. Using a white grease marker helps. Holding the crank pully while getting it off and on can be a problem unless you have the crank holder tool or an impact tool. I have impact tools, and this was quite easy. Doing the job w/out could be a problem with things moving around (like the cams), and you could have a real problem. After you have things in place, rotate the crank by hand through several turn to make sure there is no interference.

Of course there is the method of leaving the crank pully on and slipping the belt off and on. I was not able to do this, but other members have. Actually I didn't try too hard, when you have power, why screw around?

As a rule do the water pump and idler every other belt change, the tensioner EVERY time. Let us know how it goes, or ask more questions.
